Meet The Team – Therese Sturges
What do you do at Phyton Talent Advisors?
Recruit on the Wall Street Ops team in NYC
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Depends on the specific task, but listening to instrumental classical music helps me focus.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had, and what did you learn from it?
For ONE WEEK after college I took a job in the office of a factory. The manager said, “We usually don’t hire young kids, but I’ll give you a shot.” Long story short, after comparing the numbers on UPC labels against an Excel list of other numbers all day, I started to realize this was not for me. After 3.5 days of thought, I gave notice on Friday. Fortunately, the manager anticipated this and didn’t ask for an excruciating 2 more weeks of service. God bless that man.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A veterinarian…. Until I saw the Academy Awards, then an actress.
Who inspires you?
Too many people come to mind, but here’s a few people I’m close to: Kristie, an ER doctor who quarantined from her family (including 2 daughters and 7-month-old son) so she could save COVID patients; Diana & Kevin, both NYPD, who continue to do their best in the face of adversity; my sister-in-law- left her home country to come here for my brother & nephew, won’t be able to see her friends & family in Italy this year but making the best of it; a close relative, who will remain unnamed, out protesting (PEACEFULLY!) for change; my father, who always chooses to live his most frugal life so he can provide a comfortable one for his family; last but not least, my boyfriend, who inspires me to chill more because “everything will work out” (conversely he also inspires anger when he’s too lax for me)
What’s something you’ve done, but will never do again?
Work in the office of a factory
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Night owl, but trying to shift that
What are you passionate about?
Equality and justice
What’s your favorite movie?
Goodfellas (ironic, given my last response) and The Shawshank Redemption (better ending than Goodfellas)
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
I actually hate comic books and all superhero movies except for Batman, so I guess I’d choose to be a billionaire genius
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
Paris Hilton
