Meet The Team – Jennifer Machin
What do you do at Phyton Talent Advisors?
I am a senior executive recruiter who specializes in contract placements. My area of expertise touches on numerous verticals within finance, banking, operations, accounting, human resources and project management.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Breaking tasks down and staying organized. I have found that a lot of the time, procrastination is a product of having a large task to tackle. Breaking down the large task into smaller pieces helps me continue to stay on track, and every time I finish a small piece of the task at hand, I feel a little more accomplished. Small improvement is always better than no improvement at all.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had, and what did you learn from it?
That’s a tough one! I have been very fortunate to have worked some great jobs in my life, but I would say working in retail was terrible. I learned very quickly that I wasn’t the best at folding clothes or smiling for 8 straight hours. I then shortly realized that my whole paycheck was going right back to the store. Tip: Never work for your favorite retailer!
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up I always wanted to be an Olympic gymnast. As a child, it amazed me the dedication and hard work athletes like Aly Raisman demonstrated. I can remember coming home from gymnastics and immediately running to the basement to practice my “floor routine”.
Who inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is my Father. Growing up, he was always working hard to provide for my entire family, but always made time for fun. I have really grown to appreciate his work ethic and ability to always put others first. If I were to describe him in one word it would be Ambitious.
What’s something you’ve done, but will never do again?
Spend a winter in Maine. You New Yorkers think you know cold?!
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Early Bird gets the worm!
What are you passionate about?
Woman’s equality in business has always been a passion of mine. Every day I go to work I am helping set an example for all woman. Women in the workplace continues to progress in a positive direction for equal treatment in the business world.
What’s your favorite movie?
Miracle, it is a classic comeback story.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
Ability to read minds, I think it would take people watching to the next level.
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
Amelia Earhart, I tried trading places with her for my 5th grade biography day, but I didn’t get the chance to fly the plane.
