Meet The Team – Eric McAuley
What do you do at Phyton Talent Advisors?
I recruit Project Services, Information Technology and Financial Services professionals for our wonderful clients all over the United States.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I am a bit of an organization freak. I like to start my workday early, create a plan for the day and then attack my plan. I keep a daily plan and to-do list in front of me at all times. By planning my day in the early morning hours, it allows me to be on the phones and productive by the time the workday is beginning.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had, and what did you learn from it?
I started working on my grandfather’s farm when I was 9 years old. I’d start work at 6:30am and work until sundown. I look back and think of those long, tough summer days as both my favorite and least favorite job ever. I definitely learned the value of hard work but those years on the farm made me realize that I wanted to use my mind as a tool to make a living as an adult.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to play baseball for the Cleveland Indians (I still kind of do)!
Who inspires you?
I’m inspired by my wife and kids. When I have those fleeting moments where I think I’m too tired or need a little time, I can always look to the pictures of my family on my desk and that pushes me to try to be better.
What’s something you’ve done, but will never do again?
I rode in a small single prop plane in Myrtle Beach once. The pilot looked over at me and said “do you want to see a trick”? Before I could respond in the negative, we were doing a barrel roll in this death trap held together by painted rust. Nope, never again.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
A bit of both. I’m strange in that I generally only sleep about 5 hours each night. Regardless of how much or how little sleep I get, my internal clock wakes me at the same time every morning.
What are you passionate about?
I like volunteering with and spending time with kids as much as possible. I’ve coached youth baseball for many years now and I teach clinics many weekends throughout the year. Teaching, and learning from kids is as rewarding as it gets in my opinion.
What’s your favorite movie?
Goonies. No matter how many times I see it, it just doesn’t get old.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
The ability to be a telepath or read people’s minds would be really cool. One of my favorite past times is people watching. It would also come in really handy on the recruiting front!
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
To take a peek into the mind of Albert Einstein, if even for a day, would be a game changer.
